Keila Water Company chose HansaWorld software to reduce the need for entering data twice when managing sales process and customer relationships, and for bookkeeping purposes.
Wholly owned by Keila Municipal Council, Keila Water Company was established in 1997. The company provides water and wastewater services to approximately 10,000 town residents, and had 18 employees at the beginning of 2007.
Aiming to reduce double work
Before HansaWorld software, Keila Water Company used separate applications for bookkeeping (VERP) and water use calculation (custom made "Mari"). Working with two programs meant constantly exporting and importing the data, which was both inconvenient and time consuming.
The multifunctional nature of a water company was the primary concern for Keila Water Company when choosing a new software solution. HansaWorld turned out to be the only one to offer such a solution. As an integrated solution, information has to be entered only once, which reduces double work and simplifies bookkeeping.
A water company's specific functions include the registration of installed water meters and monitoring of their water consumption. HansaWorld's solution enables entering of the unique code and address of the water meter, the owner of the water meter and many other details.

HansaWorld's extensive reporting capabilities have improved the quality of financial reporting and help to obtain a clear picture about the company's main activity - water use calculation.

Implementing one application instead of two has made data entering much easier. Automation of invoicing processes saves time and reduces manual work.

Future plans
According to Rande, the company plans to make better use of HansaWorld's reporting capabilities. "We intend to add a new field to the invoice document - for the sums paid and due by the customer. This is an example how HansaWorld's integrated solution makes work more efficient - all information is stored in one place and available where and when needed."

Since Enterprise can be run on Windows, Linux or Mac, Keila Water Company is considering transferring the application from the financial manager's PC to the company's Linux server, which would improve the system's reliability and speed with only a very small investment.
